The Science Exploreation Zone is one of the smaller areas however it still has many intriguing things that everyone is able to enjoy as well as an area to draw and create things.
Science Exploration Zone
State Museum Science
This section of the fourth floor is the most interactive and inclusive area. It is filled with microscopes, touchscreens, cabinets full of species to examine as well as a room showing scientists studying fossils in real time.
Transforming Prairies
In this section of the exhibit it tells the story of Nebraska from the arrival of the Paleoindians, to present-day all the way back to the agricultural era of our state. The area also lets visitors observe and learn about how what we do changes how our state is and will become correlating to our actions and the past actions with what it is doing to our state right now.
Sustainable Earth
This portion of the Exhibit has a large globe that displays educational videos, as well as showing the climate changes and experiences that not only Nebraska goes through, but most of country as well as world.
Nebraska Landscapes through Time
When you first enter this fantastic exhibit, you are greeted by many great beasts of the past that were located right here in Nebraska. This area of the exhibit tells the story of the great migration of Nebraska. It includes many prehistoric bears, cats, and elephants, the evolution of the grasslands to the modern prairie, and the extinction of those animals that could not adapt as the climate dried and cooled over time.
Nebraska Modern Landscapes
This section of the exhibit isn't as big in the touch department, but it is still filled with many interactive experiences. In the area there is a climate control interactive experiment where you can add moisture to areas and observe how it moves through the land and how some places get wetter while some may even get dryer. This area is also filled with tunnels to crawl through as well as many stations where you can use another sense which is hearing. There are machines to hear birds, snakes, and many other species that we have, or have once had in the state of Nebraska.
